Individual Psychotherapy

I offer psychotherapy from a psychodynamic perspective This way of working is based on the belief that our behaviours and feelings as adults have their roots in childhood experiences, which shape and inform our beliefs about ourselves and our response to life events.

Change comes about by becoming aware of patterns of behaviours and ways of relating with others, which have proved unhelpful in the past.

In this way, therapy can help you develop more robust resources and capacities for dealing with issues that have caused you emotional pain. By learning better ways of managing, you can expect to live a more fulfilling and creative life.

Issues may include:

  • Relationship problems
  • Depression
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Lack of self confidence
  • Domestic violence
  • Ageing
  • Loss or bereavement

Relationship problems:

All relationships go through difficulties at times, and I offer a safe and non-judgemental place in which both of you can feel heard and supported. I can help with problems in your relationship - whether alone or as a couple. Together you will have the opportunity to explore difficult feelings and hopefully find a way forward that feels right for both of you.

I offer:

  • short term focused psychodynamic counselling:

In short term therapy we would identify a focus together, which we would then consider within a period of up to six months. We will meet weekly for 50 minute sessions.

  • longer term psychodynamic therapy:

We will meet for one or two 50 minute sessions weekly.
